Age 62, of Michigan Center, passed away suddenly on October 25, 2022. John was a man of many names, “Z”, “JZ”, “Zemer”, husband, dad, grandpa John, son, brother, uncle and friend. John was known for his larger than life personality, infectious big smile, rambunctious laugh and tales of his many adventures. He adored the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Laurie, wife of 40 years. Together they loved spending the Summers and Fall on Long Lake in Cheboygan, Michigan. John’s favorite hobbies included fishing, bird and deer hunting. You could always count on a narrated video from John that would make you feel like you were watching a live segment on “Michigan Out of Doors”. John spent most of his life above our heads. He was the proud owner of JZ’s Tree Removal Service for over 30 years and recently became an avid sky diver. Grandpa John was our #1 Napoleon Pirates and Chelsea Bulldogs Fan.

John was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 4, 1960 to the late Norman R and Marylyn A (Tremblay) Zemer.  He is survived by his wife Laurie Ann (Meador) Zemer, two daughters; Amber (Brandon) Czernik and Sarah (Loren) Ebersole, five grandchildren; Bradyn &Jack Czernik, Alexis, Connor &Lauren Ebersole, siblings; Kathleen (Kathy Worth) Zemer, Christopher (Joy) Zemer, Matthew (Linda) Zemer, Patrick Zemer, David (Barb) Zemer, sister-in-law; Katherine Zemer, mother-in-law; Sally Meador, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat; Coconut and dog; Sam. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother; Mark Zemer and his hunting dog; Belle.

John was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where services will be held. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with recitation of the Rosary at 8:30 pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11 am with Father Satheesh Alphonse. Family will receive family and friends one hour prior at 10 am. Cremation to follow. Contributions in his memory are directed to Our Lady of Fatima Church (913 Napoleon Road, Michigan Center, MI 49254).
