A. Sidney Johnson

A. SIDNEY JOHNSON, 91, of Valdosta died Friday, July 22, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 16, 1913 in Morris, Georgia to the late Jeptha E. and Edna Jolley Johnson and had lived in Valdosta during his early years and moved back to Valdosta in 1994 from Ocala, Florida. Mr. Johnson was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a pioneer in the furniture industry starting in 1939 with Tomlinson Furniture Manufacturing Company in High Point, North Carolina. He was a sales manager with Burriss Manufacturing in Lincolnton, North Carolina and Wytheville Chair Company in Wytheville, Virginia. Mr. Johnson was also sales manager for Thomasville Furniture Industries in Thomasville, North Carolina and Vice President for Key City Furniture in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Survivors include his wife, Frances Wilson Johnson of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Frank and Mary Jean Johnson of Dasher, Freddie and Peggy Johnson of Gainesville, Fla., one daughter and son in law, Joy and Mack Mixer of Dawsonville, Ga. 6-grandchildren, 7-great grandchildren, one brother, Jep Johnson of High Point, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, July 24, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. George Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
