Erich C. Rudolph

<p>Erich C. Rudolph – age 85, born in New York, NY and 46-year resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, in a local health care facility surrounded by the love of family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Growing up in Teaneck, New Jersey, Erich was a proud graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University where he was valedictorian of his graduating class and noteworthy athlete. Three-year wrestling team captain, he was named the University’s Most Outstanding Athlete twice in four years and was inducted into the Fairleigh Dickenson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.</p><p><br></p><p>After college, Erich served in the U.S. Army before marrying his wife and soul mate of 58 years, Margaret Mary Zupa. As his career progressed in shipping and logistics with Shell and later DuPont, the loving couple welcomed their daughter and son into the world and the family lived in port cities on the east coast, west coast, and gulf coast, which fit well with Erich’s love for being in and on the water. Together the family enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. Erich was also an avid golfer, a sport that he and Margaret enjoyed for years together in retirement. He was known for his integrity and positive spirit, and will be forever loved, respected and cherished by all those knew him.</p><p><br></p><p>Erich was preceded in death by: his parents, Fritz and Herta Rudolph; his son, Erich John Rudolph; his brother Horst Rudolph; his sister Magda Berhow; and his son-in-law Eric Begehr.</p><p><br></p><p>Erich is survived by: his wife, Margaret Rudolph; his daughter, Judy Rudolph Begehr; his sister, Christa Freund; his grandchildren, Hunter Begehr and Margaux Begehr; lots of loving nieces and nephews; and many friends he loved as family.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Arensberg as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.</p><p><br></p>
