Alphonso Weston

<p>Deacon Alphonso Weston, 89, of Woodbine, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his residence. He was born on January 31, 1933, to the late, Aaron Weston and Leatha Roberts-Weston in Woodbine, Ga. Alphonso was a 1954 graduate of Ralph Bunche High School and was drafted into the US Army where he spent the next two years of his life in the 62nd Chemical Corp. After returning home from the military, he met and married the love of his life, Lilla Parrish-Weston in 1957. To this union one child was born, Tresa Weston.</p><p><br></p><p>Alphonso was employed with the Camden County Board of Education where he worked in maintenance for 32 years and as a bus driver before retiring. Deacon Weston was a lifelong member of Westlight Baptist Church where he served under the leadership of Rev. Clinton R. Terry as an Ordained Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board and the Secretary of Sunday School. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and he loved his dog, Dozer.</p><p><br></p><p>Deacon Weston was preceded in death by both parents, Aaron and Leatha Weston; his loving wife, Lilla Parrish Weston, his brother, Felix Weston; two sisters, Dorothy Hamilton and Ethel Lee Malarie; a niece, Martha Rogers; a nephew, James Hamilton and a close friend, Laurie Drummond.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include: his daughter, Tresa Weston, Woodbine, Ga.; a nephew who was like a son, James (Michelle) Parrish, Fayetteville, NC; two grandsons, Christopher R. Parrish and James Parrish, Jr.; two sisters, Laura Weston, Scarlette, Ga. and Betty Cain, Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Calvin (Barbara) Weston, Woodbine, Ga. Bennie (Daisy) Weston, Jacksonville, Fl. and Bobby (Ella) Weston, Anniston, Alabama; brothers in-law, Leotis Parrish, White Oak, Ga., James (Nyanja) Parrish, Savannah, Ga. and Theodore Parrish, Atlanta, Ga.; sister in-law, Jerelene (Isaiah) Williams, Savannah, Ga.; a devoted special friend, Bertha Scott, Springhill, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. </p><p><br></p><p>There will NOT be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 05, 2022, @ 11:00 a.m. at Westlight Baptist Church, 6201 Old Jefferson Hwy., Woodbine, Ga. 31569.</p><p><br></p><p>Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery with military honors.</p><p><br></p><p>Services will be live streamed thru our website: royalfuneralhomeinc.com</p><p><br></p><p>Everyone planning to attend services are kindly asked to please wear your mask to help prevent the spread of Covid 19.</p>
