Mary Katherine (Craig) Abbott, age 91, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2022, at 12:57 p.m at

Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, IL.

Mary was born December 26, 1930, to the late William and Alice Craig in Pope County, IL.

In her younger days Mary loved to fish. If you couldn’t find Mary at home, she and her sister, Helen Jean, would be found at the creek bank. Later on, Mary developed a passion for flowers. In the spring and

summer, she would always be outside planting and tending to a lovely yard.

Mary married John R. Abbott on February 4, 1951. They were married over 71 years. John preceded her in death on October 21, 2022.

Mary was always a homemaker but did work at the nursing home for a short period of time.

Mary is survived by her two children, Pamela (Bob) McCuan, Vienna, IL and Bruce A. (Cindy) Abbott, Grantsburg, IL; four grandchildren, Melissa McCuan, Vienna, IL, Geoffrey (Autumn) Abbott, Vienna, IL, Kelsey (Trevour) Wiltshire, Athens, GA, Courtney Abbott, Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Norah Violet Wiltshire, Shiloh Rose Wiltshire, Maxwell Kairo Wiltshire, Aaliyah Iris Wiltshire, Artem Reed Abbott; and a multitude of extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Jean Warren, Doris

Fry, Louise Healy, Caroline Sue Smith, Betty Campbell, and six brothers, Carlos Craig, Claude

Craig, Ellis Craig, Laurel Craig, Earl Craig and James Craig.

Graveside service will be 10:30 am on November 18, 2022, at IOOF Cemetery in Golconda, IL. Pastor Tim Green and Pastor Jeff Treat will conduct the service.
