Age 97, of Blackman Township, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the Victorian Village in Napoleon Township under the care of their staff and CareLine Hospice.  Joyce was born in Jackson, Michigan on Sunday, October 18, 1925 to the late Gerald B. and Clara A. (maiden-Horsley) Cook. She is survived by daughters; Cloanne Boobyer and Cynthia Sue Canalichio (Joseph), grandchildren; Cynthia Brown (Kelly), Cathy Conard (Mike), David Boobyer, Kevin Canalichio (Becky), Dana Canalichio, Scott Canalichio, Marty Darnell (Erin), Trevor Brown and eight great-grandchildren.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son; Kenneth Darnell, her husband Clarence “Chauncey” Allen and son-in-law John Boobyer.  Joyce was a retired cashier from the A & P Grocery in Jackson.  She had a strong work ethic and was never without employment, particularly enjoying her years as a Tupperware Manager.  She enjoyed playing card and Bingo games.  Although not still a member, she was proud to be the last surviving charter member of the Hillsdale Nazarene Church.  She was a life member of the Jackson Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Jackson AARP.  Mrs. Allen has been cremated.  An interment service to honor her life will be held 11 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel (2615 Francis Street, Jackson, MI 49203) with Pastor Bryan Choi, Chaplain CareLine Hospice officiating.  Her family is very grateful to Kevin Ganton and his staff at Arbor North and the staff at CareLine Hospice and Victorian Village for their wonderful, compassionate service to Joyce.  Contributions in her memory are directed to the Arbor North Patient Activity Fund or the CareLine Hospice.
