Gecoulia McGee Obituary

Our beloved Gecoulia “Tootie” McGee was born in Raleigh, NC to Gertrude Cooper and Henry Sturdivant on June 25, 1945. She went JW Liggins High School and was also a graduate of Payne Business College.


Gecoulia worked for The state of NJ approximately 40yrs and attended Mt Olive Baptist Church of East Orange, NJ were she was a member of the Kathleen Talbert Scholarship Committee, Missionary Ministry and Hospitality Ministry.


Gecoulia loved bowling, skating, dancing, big roller coaster rides, and spending time with her family and friends.


Gecoulia was preceded in death by her mother (Gertrude) and just 4 days before her only sibling (Gary B Cooper).


Gecoulia leaves to cherish her life and value her memories her only son Derek McGee, daughter- in- law Keisha McGee, 4 grandsons: Derek McGee Jr, Karaan McCargo, Nygee McGee, Chazz McGee, 1 granddaughter Imani Hamlett, 2 great-grandsons Bryaan McCargo, King Hamlett, Her sister- in- law Mattie Cooper, extended sisters Joann (David) Dolvy, Barbara Chase, Ann Williams, devoted friend/neighbor Henrietta, a host of loved nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.
