John David Crowder Obituary

John David Crowder, 75, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. John was born on August 2, 1942 in Madison, NC to Roy Pleasant Crowder and Virginia Belle Dean Crowder. John retired from Stroh’s Brewery following 30 years of service. Afterwards he worked for Coca Cola as Plant Manager in Sanford, North Carolina. John was a member of the Kernersville Lion’s Club and was a Freemason. He was an active member of Trinity Moravian Church where he served as a diener, church usher, participated in Meals on Wheels, was on the Board of Elders and served on the church Building Committee. He was an avid history buff and took a special interest in the Civil War and was also a train enthusiast. John also enjoyed the outdoors especially spending time gardening, fishing and watching birds. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy Brown. Surviving family includes: his wife of 54 years, Betty Crowder; children: Lisa Ann Bauguess and husband Tim, and David Lee Crowder and wife Terri; grandchildren: Johnsie Strand and husband David, Hayden Bauguess, Peyton Crowder and Cole Crowder; siblings: Harold Crowder, Betty Powell, Don Crowder, Bob Crowder, Eddie Crowder and wife Dale, and Greg Crowder and wife Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Moravian Church with Rev. John Jackman, Rev. Dr. Bill McElveen, and Rev. Patty Garner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm in the church fellowship hall prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Salem Moravian Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Moravian Church: 220 E Sprague St, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Dilly, the staff at Piedmont Dialysis and the caretakers at Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County for the excellent care and compassion that they gave during John’s illness.
