Arlene J. Catlin Obituary

Arlene Jane Lawrenson Catlin

February 13, 1922 - October 13, 2022

Our beloved mother, Arlene, has entered Heaven above after her blessed 100 ½ years of life on earth. She was a very special little lady, loved by all who knew her.

Arlene was born in Susquehanna, PA, to the late Orr and Neva Lawrenson. She had one sibling, her younger brother, Carl. After high school, Arlene moved to Montrose, where she met her loving husband, Ken. They were both employed at the Banner Slipper Factory. They were married for 65 years.

Arlene is survived by her children; Nancy Newhart, Beverly (Aivars) Gerlins, Rexford (Paula) Catlin, and Richard (Joanne) Catlin; grandchildren: Todd Newhart, Amy Newhart, Andy (Melinda) Gesford, Jaren (Deirdre) Catlin, and Mandy (Brian) Schattenberg; great-grandchildren: Rachel Newhart, Erik Newhart, Dylan Gesford, Anthony Gesford, Alexandra Campbell, Brock Catlin, Caid Catlin, Sophie Schattenberg and Audrey Schattenberg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and Ken, Arlene was predeceased by her dear brother Carl, sister-in-law Betty, special son-in-law Dewey and her very close friend, Teen.

Arlene loved her family and having everyone together. She was a wonderful cook and fully enjoyed the holidays. Arlene’s vacations to Long Beach Island, NJ, with family were always a high point for her and Ken. Arlene’s one, and only air flight was to Florida to visit her grandson Jaren and his family when she was 87. Arlene enjoyed working with the public while employed at Catersons 5&10 and Montrose Medical Arts Pharmacy. She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church and belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for over 60 years.

Arlene and Ken enjoyed a simple life, and Montrose was exactly where they chose to live it.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice of Northwestern PA, LLC, 1444 East Lackawanna Ave, Suite 218, Olyphant, PA 18447. Our mother received wonderful care from Hospice and Gracious Senior Living, where she lived since 2016.
