Jeremy Paul Gilbert

<p>Jeremy Paul Gilbert, 35, of Richmond and formerly of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 13, 2022, while doing what he loved best, playing at the Richmond Volleyball Club. He was born to Mark and Pamela Gilbert on June 10, 1987, in Birmingham, Ala.</p><p>He grew up in Roanoke, Va. and graduated from Cave Spring High School in 2005. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. earning his Bachelor of Science in 2010. A former employee of Liberty University for many years, he most recently worked at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. as the Associate Director of Financial Aid Systems. An avid volleyball and kickball player, Jeremy proved to be quite the competitor and had many friends around the country sharing his love of anime and gaming. He never met anyone he didn’t want to be friends with.</p><p>Surviving Jeremy are his parents, Mark and Pamela Gilbert; as well as his brother, Bruce Gilbert; sister, Rachel Bauer(Michael); nephew, Sagan; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Botelho; paternal grandmother, Sybil Horton; and paternal grandfather, Chester Gilbert (wife, Marilyn). His genuine smile and nature will be remembered also by many extended family and friends.</p><p>Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Oakey’s South Chapel in Roanoke.
