Donald William Booker Obituary

Donald (Gus) William Booker was born on August 11, 1929 to Leslie Amos Booker and Elsie (nee Nagel) in Humberstone County. Donald had 2 sisters Eileen Mowat(deceased) and Faye Martin ( deceased).

Donald was baptized on August 23, 1939 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Port Colborne.

On March 6, 1953 in the First Baptist Church in Dunnville Donald married his sweetheart (Mary) Isabelle Martin. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Virginia, Laurie, Elaine and Jeff.

Donald enjoyed playing sports as well as watching them. He loved to play hockey, in fact Fisherville won the O.R.H.A. Intermediate "C" Crown in 1953, and he was the catcher for his baseball teams that he played on. While he milked cows he listened to his sports on the radio when he couldn't be sitting in front the T.V. watching them.

Donald was a dairy farmer at the family farm near Rainham Centre for over 45 years. He was also an avid Hasenpfeffer (Haas) and Euchre player and when he retired from farming he played cards with all the seniors and at the Dunnville Legion.

Tuesday nights were his 10 pin bowling league night for years whether it be in Hamilton or Simcoe and later 5 pin bowling leagues in Dunnville.

He was an active member for years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisherville where he volunteered his services especially when the new addition was built in 1999-2001.

Donald also was a driver for Senior Support services and drove clients to medical appointments.

Donald passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday October 11th, 2022 at Parkview Meadows, Birch Trail in his 94th year. He is survived by his brother-in-law John Martin (Connie), his children Virginia and Dale Benner, Laurie and Terry Woolner, Elaine (Blair pre-deceased 2016) Otterman and Jeff and Judy Booker; his grandchildren Jen(Joel), Abby (Brent), Brad, Eric (Rachael), Katie (Risto), Holly (Mitch), Erin (Wes), Rod (Melissa), Chantelle (Michael), Christine (Eric), Shawn (Alicia), Sarah (Kris) and Caden; and 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Donald was a loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa and uncle. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and Birch Trail family.

Special thanks to Parkview Meadows Birch Trail staff for taking such great care of Dad for the last 21 months!
