Coy was born in Selfville, Alabama in Blount County on February 22, 1933 to the late Coleman Thomas Head and Elsie Smith Head. Coy was a veteran of the Korean War where he served his country honorably as a corporal with the 25th Infantry Division, 35th regiment US Army. Coy worked at American National Can as shift manager for 40 years until his retirement in September 1999. In August 2000, Coy chose to accept Jesus as his personal Savior. Although it was later in his life; when he made up his mind to follow Jesus nothing could stop him. When he got saved it set a great example for our family and many family members followed his example. We will never forget how his bold action that day changed our family forever to draw closer to God. Our family rejoices that he declares: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". 2 Timothy 4:7. He was a member of North Clay Baptist Church. Papa loved the outdoors and spent many days hunting, fishing, and tending to his yard and garden. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He was a man of few words, but he set a great example for others through his devotion to his family, his integrity, and the way he lived and worked every day. Everyone that met him was drawn to him by his quite mannerism, gentle leadership, moral compass, confidence, sound advice, work ethic, and quick wit. He was never afraid to tackle a challenge and excelled at everything he put his hand to. Papa was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He had many talents and wore many hats - soldier, carpenter, mechanic, builder/developer, manager, electrician, road builder, plumber, horticulturist, hunter, dog trainer, painter - well he could do it all, and he passed on his knowledge to many others. Coy was a kind man and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Coy was a man of many accomplishments and interest, but his true passion was his family. Through all the challenges in his life he always held to his unyielding love and devotion for his beloved wife of 67 years, Geneva. He considered her God's greatest gift and his adoration and love grew stronger over the years. She was his rock and he always expressed his love, admiration, and appreciation for her as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. He was equally proud of his three sons, Tim, Ron and Jeff - "his boys." Starting early in their lives he devoted time teaching them and building sound foundations to prepare them for life: strong character, respect for others, doing what is right, being self-sufficient, strong work ethic, enjoying life, and following God's word. Papa lived life well and was loved greatly. His example of commitment, determination, kindness, and unconditional love will be his legacy and will live on through his devoted family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Remlap Fire Rescue Station 1, 40 Fire Fighter Lane, Remlap, Alabama 35133.
