<p>Dateline-Kingston, NH</p><p><br></p><p>Richard Charles Schon, 79, passed away on October 6, 2022 at his home in Kingston, NH from cancer. He was born April 26, 1943 in Winthrop, MA, son of the late Karl Schon and Mary (Green) Schon.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard grew up in Saugus, MA and was one of three children in his family. Richard graduated from Saugus High School and worked a short time in the kitchen at Heck Allen Restaurant in Saugus, MA. In 1964, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1966 as a Specialist-4. He returned home and years later he was set up on a blind date with Hazel Maguire, by her brother, Robert. Their relationship blossomed and they were wed on February 5, 1972. They resided in Rowley, MA for a few years before purchasing the home where they have lived for 46 years in Kingston, NH. Professionally, Richard worked as a Quality Control Inspector. His longtime employer for nearly 30 years was Fairview Machine in Topsfield, MA. He later worked for a few other machine companies until his retirement at age 62. Richard was a member of the Saugus Sportsman Club. He was an avid golfer. Hazel, Richard and Jason enjoyed their Great Alaskan trip a few years ago, and their trips to Aruba and Florida previously. The family also had a longtime annual timeshare at Attitash where they made many lasting memories.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Schon, son, Jason Schon, granddaughter, Avery, great-grandson, Leo, his sister, Priscilla Reed and her husband, Charlie, and numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert.</p><p><br></p><p>There are no calling hours.</p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.</p><p><br></p><p>Burial with military honor will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, NH.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Dr., Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.</p>
