Eugene “Gene” Wesley Morris of Bremerton, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 at the age of 88. Gene was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on January 1,1934 to Wesley and Iva Morris (Thomas). He grew up in Bremerton and California where he graduated from Whittier High School, class of 1952. He then moved back to Bremerton where he attended Olympic College and joined the Marine Corps. After serving two years in the military he attended the University of Washington, graduating with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Gene worked in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Keyport Undersea Warfare Engineering Station for over 30 years retiring, in 1988. After retiring, he and his wife Dorothy enjoyed several years of traveling. They especially loved road trips, cruises, Mexico and Hawaii.

Gene is survived by his wife Dorothy, a resident of Martha and Mary Memory Care Center in Poulsbo, and his ex-wife Louann Morris of Bremerton; children, Pamela Valentine (Roger) of LaConner, Kimberlee Sherman (Stephen) of Chelan, Sydney Grace of Stanwood, Kyle Morris of Anacortes; stepsons, Tim Smokoff (Vicki) of Fox Island and Jim Smokoff (Karla) of Surprize, AZ; brothers, Wesley Morris (Ginny) of Wilsonville, OR and Marty Morris of Chelan. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren that will fondly remember him as “Grandpa Kiss”.

Gene had a great sense of humor and appreciated a good joke or one liner. He enjoyed Bible study, fishing, playing cribbage, watching sports, working crossword puzzles and playing Mexican Trains with friends. Gene was known to always have a toothpick and sometimes a fork in his pocket and loved a good buffet!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital or The Alzheimer’s Association of Washington.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 with a reception to follow.
