Dale A. Decker

Our fiercely loved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and loyal friend Dale Alan Decker departed this Earth suddenly on October 2, 2022. Dale was born on August 24, 1958 to the late Peter Decker and Marilyn (Otte) Decker Miller. He married his beloved Julie Johnroe on August 18, 1990. She survives him, along with the greatest lights of his life, daughters Mackenzie (Brandon) Belill and Savannah (Jake) Guy.

He also leaves his granddaughter Isla “Bean” Belill, always Papa’s girl, and her sibling arriving in February. Also surviving are his brother Ed (Linda) Decker, sisters Karen Decker Ruhland and Renee (Steve) Eickel, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and their children. His friends, both here and departed, are too many to name.

Dale was a true outdoorsman with a special love for kayaking, hunting & fishing. He amazed many with his ability to name every bird and constellation from memory. His bonfires were the stuff of legend, earning him the title “Volcan God of Fire”. As a sailor aboard Dolphin he won multiple Port Huron to Mackinac races and achieved the status of “Old Goat.” He was the life of every party and believed everyone should dance with their hands above their heads. In retirement, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends at West Londo Lake. He will be truly missed by all.

A Funeral Service celebrating Dale's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 10, 2022 at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street, Bay City, MI 48706. Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home for visitation Sunday, October 9 from 12:00 - 6:00 PM.
