Raymond P. Moquet

<p>Raymond P. Moquet, 87, of West Haven, was called to eternal rest on October 1st.&nbsp; Ray was born on June 1, 1935, a son of the late Albert and Alice (Farren) Moquet. Survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Anna May (Marchitto) Moquet; daughters Sandy (Ken) Metcalfe and Rose (Tom) Sayers; son Ray (Jen Saracin) Moquet; as well as grandchildren Cassie, Aubrey and Liberty Metcalfe, Kendra (Logan) Metcalfe Worrick, Kaity (Colin) Moquet O’Neill, and RJ Moquet. Preceded in death by his three sisters, Susan “Dolly” Stanford, Elinor “Jim” Fappiano and Eileen DeFilippo; as well as three brothers, William “Mo”, Albert “Brud”, and LeRoy “Dewey” Moquet. </p><p><br> In his younger days, Ray served in the United States Army and opened his own automobile service garage. A longtime bus and truck mechanic, Ray spent many years with the Diamond Reo Truck Company, subsequently retiring from Connecticut Transit. His passion for cars and talent for creating beautiful Hot Rods rubbed off on Anna May, as they happily spent many nights on local cruises as well as weekend trips attending car shows with various friends. A simple drive along the beach, combined with dinner at Turk’s Restaurant, long remained a highlight. </p><p><br> Ray always held his family as the focal point of his life, his unending devotion as a father and husband never waned. Regardless of what was needed to provide for those he loved, sometimes a second job, he never complained of the additional efforts. Moreover, he was always willing to lend a hand to one in-need. His family will long reminisce about their trips to Vermont, his tradition of leaving surprises under the Christmas tree, and the personally designed and painted first cars he generously provided. Jesus’ loving arms have welcomed him home, he is now reunited with friends and family who have gone before him. He will be deeply missed by his childhood sweetheart and longtime love, Anna May, as well as his children and grandchildren. His memory will forever be cherished. </p><p><br> Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 5th, from 3 to 5:30pm. A funeral parlor service will immediately follow at 5:30pm.&nbsp; </p>
