William Richard "Boots" Harris

<p>William Richard “Boots” Harris, 69, husband of Diana Dudek Harris, suddenly died on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at home with his wife by his side. Born in New Haven, CT on April 1, 1953, he was the son of the late Deacon Gilmore and Elizabeth (Portee) Harris. He had resided in Meriden and graduated from Lee High School of New Haven.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Harris was employed by City of Meriden until his retirement in 2013. He was inducted into the CT ASA Hall of Fame on September 30, 2012, and a large contributor to Toys for Tots. </p><p><br></p><p>Besides his loving wife of 32 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Stacy and Sheila; his grandson, Evan; his two sisters, Eddie Mae Phipps (Albert) and Ann Tate and his three brothers, Leroy, Herman, and Floyd. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Johnnie Mae Wint, Sandra Easterling, and Myrtle Anderson and his two brothers George Harris and Larry Truman Harris. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa Florida 33607 attention Office of Development. </p><p><br></p><p>Per William’s last wish, there are no services.
