Owen L. Benjamin, age 81, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, October 1, 2022 at his residence in Mio. The son of the late Jack Benjamin and Louise (Tottingham) Bosley, he was born on April 2, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. Owen moved to Bay City as a young child and graduated from Bay City Central High School. He went on to serve his country with the Michigan National Guard. On August 19, 1961 Owen was united in marriage to the former Sandra J. Gawlak and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2013. Before retiring in 1996, he worked for 32 years at General Motors Buick Division in Flint and was a member of the UAW. In 2002 he and Sandy moved to Mio where he enjoyed hunting and golfing. As a longtime member, Owen still supported Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Bay City.


Owen his survived by his three children, Barbara Benjamin of Mio, Robert Benjamin and Christy Waldie of Midland, and William (Bobbi Jo) Benjamin of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, James Benjamin, Cameron Benjamin, and Emily (Richard) Pennington; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Harper; his sister, Ann Marie Gay; eight half brothers and sisters; a brother-in-law, John Brink; two sisters-in-law, Faye Benjamin and Joann Rajewski; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Sandy and his parents, Owen was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Benjamin; eight half brothers and sisters; two brothers-in-law, Al Gay and Mark Rajewski; and a sister-in-law, Carol Brink.


The Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Trahan Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Diane Weiss will officiate, and Military Honors will be conducted by the Michigan National Guard.
