Marcia Kestenbaum

<p>Marcia (Yanco) Kestenbaum 95, of Pompton Plains, NJ, formerly of Peabody MA &amp; Plainfield, NJ, Entered Eternal Rest on October 1, 2022. </p><p><br></p><p>She was the devoted wife of the late Martin Kestenbaum; beloved mother of Gary &amp; his wife Joan Kestenbaum; grandmother of the late David Kestenbaum and Philip &amp; Rachael Kestenbaum; great grandmother of Logan, Liam, and Dylan Kestenbaum; sister of late siblings Celia Koziol, Isadore Yanco, and Nathan Yanco of Massachusetts and Isabel Messer of NY, NY. </p><p><br></p><p>Marcia, like all of the women in her family, had an iron constitution and her love and devotion to Judaism, family, education and self-improvement and esteem were precious to her. Following her dutiful performance as housewife and mother supporting a fledgling lawyer in the community of Plainfield, NJ, she returned to college in her 40’s and obtained a BA degree in Education. She then taught social studies at Watchung Hills Regional High School for 25 years, wholly dedicated to the students and education. Her crowning achievement was as an integral member of a team of committed individuals who got the NJ State Legislature and Governor to enact legislation mandating Holocaust curricula in NJ public grammar and high schools. </p><p><br></p><p>Following retirement, she developed and presented personal achievement, self-esteem and listening skills seminars on cruise ships and to public employees in Trenton on behalf of the State of New Jersey. </p><p><br></p><p>Marcia will be remembered for her outgoing personality, infectious smile and unwavering devotion to her adoring husband, Martin. </p><p><br></p><p>Services at the Chapel of Knollwood Memorial Park 321 High Street, Canton on Tuesday October 4 at 11:00 AM.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, expressions of tzedakah may be made to the Jewish charity or organization of your choice in Marcia’s memory.</p>
