Schenectady – John H. Johnson, husband of Cherryl C. Johnson, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the age of 69.

Born in Queens, NY John was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Flynn) Johnson and was raised and educated in Queens. He resided in Queens for a number of years before moving to Schenectady. John had also resided in Florida for a period of several years before returning to Schenectady. He had been employed by the Golub Corporation in Schenectady and more recently by Rosetti Development Companies in Latham.

John enjoyed keeping up with current events by watching the news on television and also loved fishing and sports. He was an accomplished softball coach and in his younger years enjoyed playing sports. John’s home was his sanctuary and he enjoyed the times spent there with his family and friends. John had twice visited the Philippines, the homeland of his wife Cherryl, and he found great happiness there and in Cherryl’s family.

In addition to his loving wife Cherryl, John is survived by his two sons, John and Matthew; his granddaughter, Sarah; his siblings, Grace, Louise, James and Joseph; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his two faithful canine companions, GG and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Frances and Richard.

Friends are invited to visit with John’s family on Sunday, from 2 until 4 pm, at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road in Latham. At 4 pm a funeral service, officiated by Pastor Anthony Whitlow, will conclude the afternoon. Cremation will be held privately on Monday.
