G. Dale Newland, 92 years old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022 in his home.  Dale was born on November 18, 1929 to the late Garland and Vera (Heim) Newland in North Liberty.  Dale is preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Kucela, and brother, Roy G. Newland.

Dale is survived by is daughter Brenda Newland of Mishawaka; son, Steve Newland of Walkerton; three grandchildren, Jacob Pauwels, Abigail Okros and Cecilia Smith; sister, Veleda Moberg of South Bend; nephews Joshua Coffman of Glendale, CA, James Brown of South Bend, IN, Martin Cramer of Plymouth, IN; nieces, Tammy Cramer Childers of Waco, TX, Rowena Miller McCullock of Lead, SD; his former spouse, Susan Knowlton, and many cousins.

Dale was a lifetime member of the Carpenters Union Local #413 and proudly started his own construction company in 1981, from which he retired about 13 years ago.

Dale proudly served his country during the Korean War. He grew up on his grandparents’ farm in North Liberty. He was an avid bowler and loved being outdoors, hunting mushrooms, water skiing or watching his favorite football team, Notre Dame.

Per Dales wishes, there will be no services at this time.  Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
