Catherine A. Ramberg Obituary

Catherine A. Ramberg, of Valley Stream, passed away on Sunday, September 25 surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old.

Preceded in death by her sisters Anna, Clara, Margaret, and Joan. Beloved wife of the late John D. Ramberg. Survived by her loving children -- John (Karen), Jane, Judy (Tom), Jim (Joanna), and Joanne (Angelo). Cherished grandmother of Ian, Mara, Christopher, Matthew, Madison, and Thomas; great-grandmother of Finnegan and Charlotte. Survived by her sister Barbara (Harry) and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine Ramberg was born on June 13, 1928 to Arthur and Catherine Fromwiller. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, she was one of six daughters. She married John D. Ramberg on January 31, 1948, and, together, they moved to Valley Stream to raise a family.

While Catherine worked briefly on Wall Street, she dedicated her life to her husband and children. Her family came before everything. From her sisters to her nieces and nephews, she loved to take care of everyone and ensure all were happy. She exemplified everything it was to be the best wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend; always showing patience, kindness, and unconditional love. Catherine also shared many meaningful friendships, including with the “Motley Crew,” and made many memories bowling and traveling to Atlantic City with those she was closest to.

Catherine loved animals and had many pets that became family through the years, most recently her beloved Ruby. She was active with Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Malverne and a founding member of the Rosary Altar Society. A talented knitter, Catherine was known for making blankets and baby gifts for the people she loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated in Catherine’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church or the Northport VA.

I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade?

Oh! but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread;

And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still:

Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth - You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home;

Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
