<p>Henry R. Shepherd Sr, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 12:54 a.m. September 22, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional HealHe was born April 8, 1944 in Ottumwa to Charles and Pearl Evelyn Pherigo Shepherd. He married Leona “Kay” Rupe February 16, 1963 and she preceded him in death December 1, 1999.</p><p>Hank had been employed by Winger Contracting, SIEDA and was a self-employed contractor.</p><p>Hank enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and baking, especially pies.</p><p>Surviving are his children, Jane (Tony) Steinbach of Ottumwa, Henry “Bub” (Suzie) Shepherd Jr. of Waterloo and Carol (Scott) Glosser of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, Callie, Cameron, Sydney, Morgan, McKenzie, Ryan and Ethan; 4 great-grandchildren, Heath, Harry, Kenton and Kyler; a brother, David Shepherd; and 2 sisters, Kate Yochum and Karen Dalbey.</p><p>He was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Chuck Shepherd, Joe Shepherd, Carl Shepherd, Mike Shepherd, Ronald Shepherd, Donald Shepherd and Robert Shepherd; and 6 sisters, Dorothy Findley, Ethel Mullenix, Barbara Findley; Evelyn Griffiths, Charlene Hull and Shirley Wheaton.</p><p>Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 25th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.</p><p>Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 26th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. For those unable to attend, you may view the service live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in McIntire Cemetery.</p><p>Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
