Love won and they married on February 14, 1949. She enjoyed working as a teller at the Gadsden State Bank for 28 years and always had a smile on her face for her customers. After retiring she spent many happy years helping to raise Sarah Kathryn, Blake, Brandon, and Savanna, which she loved dearly. She also was a wonderful cook and would feed anyone, anytime day or night. Her potato salad and blackberry jelly were legendary.

She was a long-time member of Chattahoochee First Baptist Church and the Conquerors Sunday School Class where she held the office of secretary. Through the years she also taught many ages in Sunday School and was a founding member of the Jewel’s Reas WMU. She also was a wonderful volunteer in her daughter’s kindergarten class and received Volunteer of the Year from Sneads Elementary.
