Elmer Leroy Stevens, 85, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Thursday morning, September 22, 2022, at the Forest Grove Memory Care in Forest Grove.

Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

Leroy was born May 5, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of the late Eldon Michaels and Lena Stevens.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Davis on May 16,1970. They celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary this past May.

Following their marriage, they resided in Beaverton until 1974 when they moved to the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since.

Elmer worked in Construction on both Home and Commercial buildings until his retirement.

He was a member of the Oregon Hunters Association. Among his special interests, Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught his children and grandchildren the love of hunting and the outdoors.

Leroy was a cowboy at heart and passed the love of rodeo down to his son Michael Stevens and his granddaughter Shelby Williams who competed in 4H and OHSET.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, and by his step son Dwayne Dethlefs

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Stevens, of Forest Grove, Oregon; his children and their spouses: Sherrie Stevens-Roslyn, WA; Michael Stevens- Pasco, WA; Shyla Creasey & Clayton-Carlton, OR; Stepson- Dean Dethlefs & Shelly- Vernonia, OR.

 Also surviving are his grandchildren and their spouses, Dillon Dethlefs-Vernonia, OR; Dustin Dethlefs & Jennifer-Ketchikan, AK; Tyler Williams-Forest Grove, OR; Tristan Williams-Gaston, OR; Shelby Williams-Carlton; BailyJo Stevens-Australia; Mikayla Stevens-Richland, WA; Christopher Stevens-Wenatchee, WA; Jessica Lupton-CourD’alene, ID; and several great grandchildren.

The family will have a Celebration of Life on October 15th from 2-5 at

314 S 7th Street, Carlton, OR in his memory.
