<p>Wilmer L. "Bill" Atkinson Jr., 75, of Dubuque, died Friday, September 16, 2022, at his home. Per Bill's wishes, there will be no formal services.</p><p><br></p><p>Bill was born October 29, 1946, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Wilmer Louis Sr. and Mildred Arthofer Atkinson.</p><p><br></p><p>He graduated from Wahlert High School and attended Loras College.</p><p><br></p><p>Bill was an avid reader, especially of Science Fiction. He sported "Asimov's sideburns" for many years in homage to one of his favorites. Bill had an intellectual mind and a deep knowledge and interest of history, science, geography, politics, and theology. He was Google before there was Google.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include his siblings, Ardith Peterson, Mary Severson, and Jon Atkinson all of Dubuque, IA, and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jane Davis.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>October 29, 1946 - September 16, 202210/29/194609/16/2022
