OPELOUSAS ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 at a 2:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas for Raymond Thibodeaux, Sr., age 69, who passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at Opelousas General Hospital.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery. Deacon David Menard of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau will officiate at the services.

Raymond was a native of Church Point and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He retired from the City of Opelousas after over 30 years of employment. In his spare time, Raymond enjoyed cooking and was also an avid painter. His family considered him a jack-of-all-trades. He especially loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Stephanie Thibodeaux of Opelousas; two sons, Raymond Thibodeaux, Jr. (Yvonne Stelly) of Sunset and Adam Thibodeaux (Brenna Leger) of Opelousas; two daughters, Wendy Thibodeaux (Richard Henry) of Ville Platte and Diane Miller (Russell) of Lawtell; seven grandchildren, Brittany Istre (Kegan), Nicholas Miller (Lindsey Johnson), Nicole Roy (Rob), Drake Miller, Brooke Bailey (Dristian), Belle Thibodeaux, and Bentley Thibodeaux; and six great-grandchildren, Vivian, Vincent, Bryce, Jolie, Sage, and one due on Raymond’s birthday in January of 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Isabelle Hollier Thibodeaux; four sisters, Shirley Thibodeaux, Betty Fontenot, Jeanette Chelette, and Mary Lou Leger; and three brothers-in-law, Joe “Dudley” Fontenot, Robert “Bozo” Chelette, and Floyd Leger.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Friday until service time on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Russell Miller, Nicholas Miller, Drake Miller, Adam Thibodeaux, Raymond Thibodeaux, Jr., and Richard Henry.
