<p>Florence Prajsner Metzger</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Florence Prajsner Metzger, age 96, died peacefully on Thursday, September 8th at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Perrysburg Center. Flo was born in Rochester, Michigan on November 22, 1925, one of six children born to Martha and Frank Rewold. She lived in Rochester until graduating from high school at which time she moved to Toledo to attend nursing school at The Toledo Hospital. She completed her training in1947 and began working with pediatricians Drs. Foster, Zollinger and Baehren. In 1948 Flo married Tom Prajsner and together they reared two sons, Mark and Jim. After the birth of her children, Flo returned to Toledo Hospital as a maternity RN for several years before joining the Hospital’s Infant Monitor Program working with Dr. Pierre Vauthy in a position she held until retirement in 1988. Her first husband died in 1985 and in 1988 she married Frederick Lamb Metzger. They enjoyed life together until his death in 2003.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Flo’s many community commitments include her 70 plus years as a faithful member of Park Congregational UCC and as a volunteer for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Wolcott House and the Toledo Symphony League. She was a longtime supporter of the Toledo Zoo, The Arts Commission and the MetroParks. Several years ago Flo donated Fred Metzger’s rare glass cane collection to the Toledo Art Museum for display in the Glass Pavilion.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Flo was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing bridge and was committed to daily exercise.</p><p><br></p><p>Her many friends appreciated her positive attitude, her generous spirit and her willingness to be helpful in so many ways. She was everyone’s favorite nurse. Frequently she expressed her gratitude for the many people who enriched her life and provided support in this last year. Simple pleasures and sunny days sustained her.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Flo is survived by her son, Jim, her granddaughter Erin Eaton (Phil), and stepdaughters, Judy Russell and Nancy Oswald (John). Her son, Mark, died in 2003.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service will be held at Park Church, 1456 Harvard Blvd. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m..</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Park Church.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements by Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home</p>
