Mr. Charles "Chuck" Bryant, Jr., age 63, of Traverse City (formerly of Grand Haven), passed away on August 26, 2006 in Traverse City. Chuck was born May 8, 1943 in Grand Haven to the late Charles and Ann (Kadlec) Bryant, Sr. He married the former Janet Overway on December 28, 1963 in Grand Haven.

Chuck received his BA degree from Michigan State University in 1965. He lived in Traverse City the past 20 years, coming from Big Rapids, and was employed by the State of Michigan for 37 years as an Administrator for the Department of Social Services. Chuck was the Zone Manager (Northern Michigan Office) for the Dept. of Social Services for 13 years retiring in November of 2003. He served on the Executive Committee of Michigan County Social Services Association and on the chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee and Liaison to the Michigan Association of County Legislative Committee. The organization promoted improved human services, programs, and deliveries in Michigan.

Chuck was a former member of Grand Haven Presbyterian Church, and loved to deer hunt in Michigan and Wyoming with his son, Mike. He traveled widely, enjoyed gardening and being an avid MSU sports fan. He also loved professional football and basketball.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet; two sons, Michael (Traci) Bryant of Orion Township, MI, and Jeffrey Bryant of Traverse City; two grandchildren, Andrew (grandpa's special buddy) and Amanda; his sister, Rose (Robert) Snoek of Ferrysburg, MI; his brother, William (Beryl) Bryant of Grand Haven; brother-in-law, Roy (Joyce) Overway of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Jean officiating. Friends may meet the family from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
