Franklin T. Curley

Age 74, a lifelong resident of Oscoda, MI passed away with his children gathered around him, on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester, MI. He was born on November 2, 1947 in Harrisville, MI to the late Harry and Helen Curley (Merkel). Frank graduated from Oscoda High School in 1965. He then attended Northern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelors degree in elementary education. Frank taught for a few years in Oscoda and in Ohio. He worked briefly for the railroad in Ohio before moving back to Oscoda to join the family business, Curley and Son’s Painting. Later, he was self employed and finally retired after many years of painting. Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda where he served as a lecturer and Eucharistic Minister. He loved to tinker with mowers, tractors and would even be accused of breaking things so he had something to fix, especially with the hopes of getting help from his kids! Frank was the first to the dance floor and he loved a great party. He was a selfless man and caregiving was his passion. Frank was a second “dad” to many because his door was always open to help care for others. He most especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Frank is survived by his 5 children, daughter Ivy (Mike) Ridenour of Negaunee, MI, daughter Amy (Patrick) Hanchin of Charlevoix, MI, daughter Erin (Tim) Kellstrom of Oscoda, MI, son Adam (Kari Taylor) Curley of Oscoda, MI and son Brandon (Melissa) Curley of Oscoda, MI. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and two sisters; Rozanne Curley and Mary Calo. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife Nadine Curley on September 21, 1988 and six siblings; Charlie, Delbert, Gerald, Roger, Arnie and Sylvia. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda, MI. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
