Richard Lucero Obituary

Richard (Rick) Faustin Lucero, of Denver, Colorado, passed away September 5, 2022. Rick was born July 4, 1941, to Adelia and Tony Lucero in Antonito, Colorado.

Rick led a full life working various positions throughout his career in the extractive and minerals processing field. Most recently, since the mid-1980s, Rick ran a specialty concrete business whose product was used to extinguish underground coal mine fires, as well as for various construction purposes. The successful application of his highly technical product is scattered throughout the U.S.

Rick was an adventurer at heart, traveling extensively around the world, in many cases under very primitive conditions. He preferred hanging out with regular people, although he more than held his own with the big shots.

Rick was a very curious person. He read anything he could get his hands on. He had many conversations with his family around the dinner table about technical matters that were often not understood. He made us chuckle with stories about attending Denver University class lectures – without signing up for them. What the college students must have thought?

He is survived by his daughter Liz Rolen, son-in-law Steve Rolen, and grandson Matt Rolen; his son Tony Lucero, daughter-in-law Cherrie Lucero, and grandchildren Jessica, Tim, and Lisa Lucero; his sister Sarah Drohan, and nephews Josh and Brandon Drohan.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Lakewood Park, located at 150 S. Kipling Parkway, Lakewood Colorado 80226. Attire is casual (shorts and t-shirts are welcome). In lieu of flowers, Dad would have preferred folks donate to a favorite charity.
