<p>Diane Kay Sterba, 68, of Sumner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 7, 2022.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 12, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Grove Cemetery, rural Sumner. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 11th at Becker &amp; Son Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.</p><p><br></p><p>Diane Kay, daughter of John Alfred and Irma Jane (Foster) Floden was born February 18, 1954, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner. She was baptized in the Baptist Faith. Diane received her education in the Sumner Schools, graduating from Sumner High School in 1972. On February 19, 1972, she was united in marriage with James Sterba at the First Baptist Church in Sumner. Diane worked for Meinerz (Beatrice and Conagra) in Fredericksburg for many years, prior to working at Omega Cabinets in Waterloo for fifteen years. In addition, she and her husband, Jim had a lawn care service, and Diane also cleaned many homes in the Sumner area. Diane was very nurturing by helping care for her niece, Kari and Lacie Vorthmann. Many things brought Diane great joy including, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, 3D diamond painting, paint by numbers, romance novels, gardening, canning, and scrapbooking. She was an avid collector of Denim Days, Snow Babies, Mickey Mouse, and teddy bears. Diane was an avid fan of Elvis, Neil Diamond, Blake Shelton, Olivia Newton-John, Princess Diana, David Hasselhoff, and the Osmonds. Diane had many interests, but nothing brought her as much joy as time with family, especially when she could spoil her granddaughters. She had a love for Siamese cats and German shepherds. Diane also loved Christmas, whether it be baking, decorating, or listening to Christmas music.</p><p><br></p><p>Diane is survived by her husband, Jim of Sumner; sons, Eric (Tammy) Sterba and Ryan (Michelle Marvin) Sterba, both of Sumner; granddaughters, Makyla (Mitchell) Eiben of Waterloo, Tiffany Sterba of Waverly and Tayelyne Marvin of Sumner; siblings, Pat Fox of Waterloo, Jon (Debbie) Floden of D’Iberville, Mississippi, David (Kathy) Floden of Van Meter, Ron (Wanda) Floden of Sumner, Donna Floden of Kentucky, and Merri Harris of Sumner; brother-in-law, Jerry (Verla Wegener) Sterba of Forest City; sister-in-law, Pam Folkerts of Waverly; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Floden; and niece, Kari Harris.</p><p><br></p><p>https://youtu.be/RMqByxxNg9A</p><p><br></p>
