<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; BASILE ~&nbsp;&nbsp; Carey Joel Fontenot passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of Monday, the 29th of August, 2022, in his residence in Bluffton, SC. Carey was 43 years old.&nbsp;He was born in Lake Charles, LA, on the 4th of December, 1978, to his parents Jeanie Burrow-Vail of Moss Bluff, LA, and Michael Darwin Fontenot of Basile, LA. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carey was raised in Sulphur and graduated from Parkview Christian Academy. He attended Louisiana Tech, SOWELA CAMPUS. He worked as a technician installing sprinkler systems and most recently as a deep sea fisherman and internet merchandiser. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carey had a kind heart, a great sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. He loved everything outdoors from camping, fishing, hunting, to gardening, and he loved the LSU TIGERS. He was also a great cook, anything from barbecue to gumbo and beyond. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family and friends. Carey will be so deeply missed by those who loved him. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7th from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a rosary being held at 6:00 pm at Ardoin Funeral Home in Basile, LA. Visitation will continue Thursday, September 8th from 7:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am. Services will be held at St Augustine Catholic Church, Basile, LA. Carey will be laid to rest following services, in St Augustine Catholic Church Mausoleum with Fr.&nbsp; Keenan Brown, Celebrant. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He is survived by his wife; Monica Fontenot of Lake Charles, his sons; Matthew Alan Fontenot of Nederland, Tx, and Matt James Howard of Lake Charles, his mother; Jeanie Burrow-Vail of Moss Bluff, his father and step- mother; Michael Darwin and Karen Fontenot of Basile, his grandmothers; Myrna Burrow of Moss Bluff, and Sue Fontenot of Basile. He is also survived by his step siblings; Angela Fuselier, Anastasia Martin, Stephanie Vail, and Ken Vail, all of Lake Arthur, LA, Paden Marcantel and Jesslyn Marcantel, both of Basile.
