Marilyn E. Murphy

Marilyn E. Murphy, 90, of Plainsboro, passed away at home on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Born in Fairlawn, NJ, Marilyn went to Art School at Parson School of Design in NYC and then returned to work at the family farm in Cranbury, NJ. She then went on to work at Nassau Conover Dealership for 45 years as a bookkeeper until she retired. Marilyn started the first summer recreation program for young children at Wycoff’s School, Plainsboro, NJ. She lived across from the park at Wycoff’s School and enjoyed watching the children play at recess every day. She loved to paint. She went to many art classes and enjoyed painting with her dear friend, Dorothy. She also enjoyed meeting with her Bitch and Stitch friends once a week. Predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Jennie Lowe; her husband, William Murphy, Sr; her daughter, Lynn Murphy; and her four siblings, Alfred Lowe, Charlie Lowe, Marge Atkinson and Emily Metcalf; she is survived by her son, William Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie; her daughter, Laura Murphy; her son, Timothy Murphy and his wife, Eileen; her grandsons, Michael Murphy and Jonathan Springfield; her many nieces and nephews; and her dear life-long friends. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ. Interment will follow at Brainerd Cemetery in Cranbury. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the A.S. Cole Son & Co. Funeral Home. Masks are optional for the visitation and funeral services of Marilyn E. Murphy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Plainsboro Fire Department by mailing your check to: 407 Plainsboro Rd, Plainsboro, NJ 08536

Loved Aunt Marilyn, to many memories to share , but had some pictures to share! She was a great lady and will miss her! But she is back with the family who passed and I am sure she is watching over us all!

I played softball across the street from Marilyn, and lived nearby. I spoke with her many times, she was always cheerful and pleasant. Marilyn was well liked and will be missed by many.
