Sandra McAlister, age 77, of Jewell, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Sandra Kay McAlister was born on June 30, 1945 in Jefferson, IA. She was the second born child of Cecil and Darlene (Compton) Sease. She grew up in Bayard, IA. She received her education by attending Bayard Community School where she graduated with the Class of 1963. On December 19, 1964, Sandy was united in marriage to Dennis McAlister at the Bayard United Methodist Church. Dennis was soon deployed to Vietnam and Sandy went to work at the Vaux’s Grocery Store in Bayard. They moved to Jewell in 1966. She was a homemaker until she began her career with the United States Postal Service retiring in 2007. Sandy was a member of the Jewell United Church of Christ and the Jewell Golf and Country Club. Sandy enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening. Her favorite pastime was spent with her family. Sandy went to be with her eternal Savior on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA. Those thankful for having shared her life include her husband Dennis of Jewell; two daughters Toni McAlister of North Liberty and Tricia (Kevin) Rose of Stratford; one son Travis McAlister of Ankeny; three grandchildren Paxton Wicks, Dylan and Makenzie Rose; one great-grandson Tryce Rose; two sisters Diane Hood of Guthrie Center and Mickey Farrell of Boone; one brother Ben Sease of Yale; along with many other relatives and friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Braden Wicks, one sister Linda Turner and one brother Danny Sease. Sandy will be cremated following the funeral service and family will have a burial at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.
