Everett Floyd Ashby Obituary

Everett Floyd Ashby 1917-2017 Everett F. Ashby of Pensacola, FL passed away at the grand age of “100” on September 19, 2017. He was born in Napa, Idaho to the late Lilburn and Hattie Burgen Ashby on June 2, 1917. What few know is that Everett’s family background appeared as one of the King’s Royal Knights of England. His great grandfather, in response to the King’s request, accepted a land grant in Shenan Valley, Tennessee. Unfortunately, the plantation was destroyed during the Civil War and the two remaining brothers departed for Kentucky and Missouri. Several generations later, Everett, at the age of eighteen (18) joined the Army and served three (3) years before arranging a transfer to the Navy in December of 1940 where he served six (6) years. It was during his service in the Navy where he met and married Jeanette in 1942 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage until Jeanette passed away in 1976. Interestingly, Everett then gained employment at the Pensacola Navy Yard where he repaired aircraft engines for 29 years and met an attractive lady named Georgia. Georgia added a new chapter to Everett’s life, but unfortunately passed away in 1996. It is well known that Everett’s life has been enriched by his salvation, dedication, and service to Christ. Everett has been taken weekly by Bill Harker to East Brent Baptist Church where he attended Sunday School taught by Jack Stewart and Church services conducted by Pastor Wade Rials. Thanks to all who enriched his life. Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Fri., Sept. 22, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Bro. Doug Moesta officiating. Burial will follow the services in Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. prior to services. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL entrusted with arrangements. You may express your condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.
