Catherine “Cathy” Michelle Gaines, 76, of Hickory, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Carolina Caring in Newton. She was born January 21, 1946 in Los Angeles County, CA to the late Carl and Peggy Michelle. Cathy was of the Catholic faith and retired from the retail industry. She enjoyed gardening, going to the mountains, spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dog, Nicky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Gaines, Sr.; and two daughters, Charlene Hatley and Marie Loper. Those left to cherish her memory are; Sons: Kevin Gaines of Pearl River, LA Nelson Gaines, Jr and wife Lynn of Picayune, MS Daughter: Margaret Gaines Anderson and husband Joe Corbin of Hickory Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren A memorial service to celebrate Cathy’s life will be held at a later date.
