Barbara A. Silvestri, 89, of Vandergrift, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 in Belair Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Lower Burrell. Born December 4, 1932 in Vandergrift, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna (Mastropasqua) Silvestri. She was a 1950 graduate of Vandergrift High School and lived in Vandergrift her whole life. Barb was employed as a secretary for General Telephone Company for 32 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift. Barb enjoyed reading and playing the piano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Connie Modaffari, Mary Fousel; brothers, Emanuel, Charles, and Frank Silvestri. Barb is survived by several nieces and nephews. At Barb’s request there will be no viewing. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church with Father James Loew, O.S.B. as celebrant. Private entombment in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church 303 Franklin Ave. Vandergrift, PA 15690.
