James B. Williams

James B. Williams III, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was born July 7, 1937, in New York City, the son of James B. Williams, Jr. and Mary B. Williams. Jimmy moved to Meriden with his family at an early age. He graduated from Meriden High School, class of 1955 where he excelled as an athlete on both the football and baseball field. He then went on to attend Cheshire Academy and the University of Miami. He most recently lived in Wallingford.<br><br>After serving in the U.S. Army reserves, he began his employment locally with the International Silver Company and then with Stanley Roberts Company as a sales representative selling flatware design pieces throughout the United States.<br><br>Jimmy was predeceased by his wife Ellen Doran Williams with whom he spent a wonderful 48 years together, a son James B. Williams IV, and a younger brother John R. Williams.<br><br>Jimmy is survived by two sons, Mark Williams, and Russell Williams; his two grandchildren, Anna Williams, and Connor Williams as well as his longtime companion Tammy Tatro. He is also survived by his sister, Sue (Louis) Bertagna and brother-in-law Philip Doran and many nephews and nieces.<br><br>Jimmy was an avid golfer and racquet ball player and also enjoyed many years vacationing on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.<br><br>Jimmy was always known as someone who threw a great party and was also a most generous and loyal person. His favorite saying was " Die young at a very old age" and he lived by that mantra.<br><br>Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 4 to 7pm at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 17th at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave (Corner of Lewis Ave and West Main St), Meriden, CT 06451.
