Catherine Lee Moscar, 74, passed peacefully with family by her bedside on August 11, 2022, in Dover, New Hampshire. Born November 3, 1947, in Long Beach, California, Cathy was the eldest of seven children of John and Laurel Calaway. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, John. Cathy is survived by her daughter, Laurel, Aunt Joyce, sisters Joyce and Patty (Sandra), brothers Tim, Terry (Elizabeth) and Rich (Shana). She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews as well as long-time, dear friends such as Bonnie Donzella. A 1966 graduate of Terra Linda High School in Marin County, California, Cathy continued her education at San Jose State and graduated in 1979 with a B.A. in History. Her love of books continued all of her life. She was a voracious reader of thrillers and mysteries. Cathy was a recent transplant to New Hampshire joining her daughter and kittens. Sitting with a kitten or two in her lap was sheer delight. She had a huge heart for animals and was a frequent puppy sitter for family. She was also a lover of sports – including auto racing, basketball and college football. Teenage years were spent at the swimming pool as a lifeguard. She worked for many years in a variety of roles including retail, traffic signage and building supplies. A collector of treasures and a flea market maven, Cathy kept her mind sharp with jumble puzzles, crosswords and staying abreast of current event. Recent health issues didn’t prevent Cathy from staying in touch with her family in many parts of the country. She always kept a positive attitude about her condition. Cathy had a huge heart and loved her family and friends deeply. She will be profoundly missed. Celebrations of her life will be scheduled later for friends and family on both coasts. Donations to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA in Cathy’s honor will be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
