Freddie A. Hamm, Jr.

VA BEACH – Freddie Aubrey Hamm, Jr. 71, of the 3900 block of Sunstream Pkwy. passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on August 15, 1950 to the late Freddie A. Hamm, Sr. and Thelma Rutherford Hamm; and was a proud U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. Freddie worked as a Lab Technician for over 40 years and retired from VA Oncology Associates after 20 years. He loved music, good food, Pepsi, the Washington Redskins, but most of all he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorinda Woodcock. He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate of 32 years, his wife, Lorie V. Hamm; his daughter, Jessica Fricovsky and her husband Robert; his son, Freddie A. Hamm, III and his wife Priscilla; three grandchildren, Kourtney, Elora and Levi; a niece, Cindy Garrett and her husband Billy; a nephew, Wayne Woodcock, Jr. and his wife Chelsea; a special cousin who was like a sister to him, Sandi Gibbs; and many extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Rev. Tony Hash. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 – 7:30 PM. Burial with military honors will be private at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery.
