Angel Marilyn St. Pierre, age 18 of Bennington, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at her home on August 7, 2022, after a brief battle with Addison’s Disease.  She was born in Keene, NH on February 27, 2004. Her parents are Joseph and Kelly (Walker) St. Pierre of Bennington.

Angel was born one minute before her fraternal twin sister, Priscilla. Angel was the oldest and she would let you know it. She and Priscilla were born to their biological parents, Ann Marie (Craig) Garfield and Perley Garfield. Perley passed away in 2004 when the girls were six months old.

Angel and Priscilla came into their forever family as foster children in August of 2009. On November 18, 2010 their parents, Joe and Kelly were blessed to finalize the adoption and forever have their girls in their family.

In her short life, Angel was a vibrant light with a sweet, kind heart to all who knew her. She had a bigger than life personality and everyone would know when Angel was in a room. She brought joys and challenges to her parents, but the love and joy far outweighed any struggles. Angel taught her mom and dad what it meant to be spunky and stubborn but also kind and fun. Her laughter was contagious and her smile lit up every room.

Angel was an Incredible big sister to her twin, Priscilla. The two could not have been more different from physical appearance to likes and dislikes. They had their sibling rivalries and did their best to have their separate identities. But if anyone messed with one, they messed with the other. Angel and Priscilla fiercely loved one another and shared so much with each other on a level that no one else could have ever understood.

Angel was a very big part of Bennington and the greater Conval Community, having attended Pierce Elementary School, Antrim Elementary School, Great Brook Middle School and Conval High School. Angel just graduated on June 10, 2022 from Conval High School in Peterborough.

She participated in so many activities, clubs, and community events throughout her 13 years growing up in Bennington. From town rec sports and summer camps to school clubs and extra-curricular activities, as well as community service projects including volunteering at the Bennington Community Suppers and spending most Friday nights at the Avenue A Teen Center.

Angel, along with her mom and sister, attended Bennington Congregational Church, Monadnock Congregational Church and Antrim Baptist Church at different times throughout her growing up. Angel was growing in her faith and enjoyed activities within the church including Christmas pageants and helping with younger kids in Sunday school.

During her high school years, Angel found a true love of athletics and participated in Unified Soccer and Unified Basketball. During her freshman year, the Conval Unified Soccer team won the State Championship and this was such a joy and pride to Angel. Angel played hard for her teams despite her constant pain caused by her Addison’s Disease.  She struggled academically at times but always put her best effort in for her teachers and paraprofessionals. Teachers, paras and staff would always let her parents know how Angel walked the halls of the high school with a smile and kind words for them and peers like “I love your sweater” or “that’s a pretty dress”.

Angel had a heart for young children, the differently-abled and animals; especially dogs. She completed the Careers in Education program during her high school years with a thought early on of working in a preschool someday. Later, in her junior and senior years, she turned to her bigger love of animals and after interning at Dogs on Depot in Peterborough, she was working toward finding a job and training as a dog groomer. Angel made fast friends with all circles from the athletes to the academics to the introverts and other differently-abled students in her special education classes. She was very kind and helpful to more than one differently-abled friend in the classroom and on the Unified field and court.

Angel just began her second year working at Milford Market Basket where she was learning the value of being an independent young adult earning her own money. She was loved by many of her co-workers and valued by her supervisors as a hard worker.

But no co-worker loved her more than her sweet boyfriend, Ethan Smith of Mont Vernon. Angel and Ethan met at Market Basket and began dating December 2021 and for these past eight months, Ethan and Angel began their tender story of a true first love. The two of them were truly two peas in a pod and balanced each other so well. It was a blessing to her parents that Angel, who struggled socially at times, was able to make such a strong tender connection to a young man who truly adored her. Ethan and his family welcomed Angel into their home and their lives. Angel and Ethan spent a fun filled week at a lake house with his family in July and she had the time of her life.

Angel, her parents, and her sister, along with extended family, spent so many weekends and weeks through the years vacationing all over New England from the mountains and lakes to the ocean; camping and cottages, hotels and resorts. Making the most of everything life could be from simple hikes and swimming to touristy exploring. A 10-day road trip with her parents and sister in 2014 for their 10th Birthday to Disney World, Florida was a fun and memorable trip.

Angel also enjoyed quiet time at home with her family and pets. She and her sister Priscilla spent hours playing games, playing Barbies, oh, so much time with their Barbie dolls. They did makeup and nails, made tik tok videos singing and dancing and enjoyed playing the Wii and watching movies. One of Priscilla’s fondest memories is when she and Angel would go outside after it rained and look for salamanders and newts. Angel spent time with neighbors and as the eldest kid in our Village, the other kiddos were like little siblings to her. They rode bikes and played in all their yards. They spent time together at Whittemore Lake in Bennington swimming. Oh, how much Angel loved being in the water.

Angel spent time with her mom doing crafts and learning scrapbooking and card making. Many a winter afternoon the two would spend at the dining room table letting the scissors and glue and paper fly. Angel loved every fishing opportunity with her dad. The two spent more than one father/daughter weekend away casting their lines. At times not catching a thing, besides the memories of their time spent together. Angel loved her dog, Motley so much. He was truly an unofficial emotional support to her through her difficult moments growing up.

Angel was a lover of all things Stitch from the Disney Movie Lilo & Stitch. It started when she had to have stitches in her chin at age 7, after a fall and due to her constant clumsiness, her dad nicknamed her "Stitch". Then she saw the movie, and quickly associated herself with the character. Stitch has an awkward “weirdness”, being an alien of course, and Angel would describe herself as being kind of awkward herself. The movie features the Hawaiian term “Ohana” and this became Angel’s motto. “Ohana” means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Angel had “Ohana” written on her graduation cap and had plans for a tattoo of Stitch and the word “Ohana”.

Angel had brief connections with friends in different seasons of her growing up. Besides her twin sister, Angel’s longest continuing friendship was with her best friend Lilly Clough of Bennington. Angel and Lilly met only 3 years ago but their bond was so strong. They truly taught each other what friendship could really be.

Besides her loving parents and twin sister, Priscilla, Angel is survived by her maternal grandparents, James and Evelyn (Nelson) Walker of Nashua, her maternal Auntie Amy Walker and her significant other, Mark Trudeau, both of Nashua, as well as her cousins Emily and Zachary Newell also of Nashua. Her Paternal Auntie Willow (St. Pierre) Gallant and her husband Todd Gallant, both of Chicopee, MA and her cousins Faith and Ethan Gallant also of Chicopee. Her paternal Aunt Carole (St. Pierre) Engels and her husband Dick Engels of Presque Isle, Maine. Her cousins Justinian Engels, his fiance, Bobbi Faga and their children Kensington and Declan, all of Lakewood, New York, and cousins Army Major Sebastian Engels and his wife, Stacy and their children Adrian, Ryder and Olivia, all currently stationed in Germany. As well as numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. Angel was predeceased by her Paternal Grandparents, Joseph and Marilyn (Andrews) St. Pierre.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 14, 2022 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough NH. A Celebration of Angel’s life will be announced soon and burial will follow at a later date.
