Dakota K. Lieber Stevens Point, Wisconsin Obituary

Dakota K. Lieber

Dakota Karl Lieber, a caring and kind persona, who loved good food, friends, family, and his canine girls, Trinity and Lagatha, died on the morning of August 9th, 2022. Born September 15th, 1989 in Huntingburg, IN, Dakota was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant. In 1992, his family moved to the Stevens Point area. From a young age, he inspired parents and grandparents alike with his confidence and friendly nature. Dakota made many friends as he was known to introduce himself to anyone he could, always inviting them to share in his joyous and pioneering spirit. He also had a unique gift for wisdom and profound perception. His friends experienced his generosity often. Dakota attended several local schools throughout his youth where students and teachers came to know him for his leadership. He had an inquisitive mind and loved to read and learn new things. No matter what he was doing he always brought 100 percent. In his early years he dreamt of being a pilot. Dakota graduated from SPASH in in 2008. After high school, Dakota developed a deep love for the culinary arts. Both preparing and sharing healthy, hand crafted, and delicious foods became his number one passion. He honed his cooking skills all over town at restaurants including R.D.’s Diner, South Point Restaurant, Father Fats Public House, and Christian’s Bistro. Each of these experiences fueled his dream of one day owning his own yellow food truck! Dakota also found a love for traveling, often visiting friends in Colorado, but he always dreamt of seeing the ocean. No matter what Dakota would do, all can agree, he would live each moment to the fullest. Dispite all of Dakota’s joys and ambitions, when he was 10 his life’s story was complicated by the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes. Throughout his life, this diagnosis took many forms, but in late 2021 he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. It was a diagnosis he fought every day while he waited for a possible kidney and pancreas transplant. Dakota’s survivors include his daughter, Keahna Finnessy; mother, Anissa Lieber; father, Douglas Bemowski; grandparents, Martin (Sherry) Lieber and Melanie Bemowski; siblings, Kyle Bemowski, Phoenix Lieber-Bemowski, Sage Lieber-Bemowski, Journey Lieber-Bemowski, and Bailey Norton. He is further survived by uncle Christian (Vicki) Lieber; aunts, Johanna (Eric) Friedricks and K. Maia Lieber, as well as his extended family and friends. Dakota was preceded in death by grandfather, Richard Bemowski and infant sister, Sylvia Holt. A time of visitation and a celebration of Dakota’s life will be held on Friday, August 19th, 2022 at Boston Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 4:00pm and celebration of life will follow at 7:00pm. The celebration will be officiated by grandfather, Pastor Martin Lieber.
