<p>Edell Hinely Raburn, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Athens on August 10, 2022. Born in Springfield, Georgia on November 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Ryan Hinely and Mertie Zittrouer Hinely.</p> <p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Julian Adkin Raburn in 2000; siblings W. Hugh Hinely, Lewis J. Hinely, Jordan T. Hinely, Mirian McLendon, and Mary Hiers.</p> <p>Edell was a retired educator where she spent 27 years in the Clarke County School System. She attended Georgia Teachers&rsquo; College, received a BS degree from Georgia State College for Women, and a MS degree from the University of Georgia. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School class, UMC Circle #3, Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers&rsquo; Sorority, and the Green Acres Garden Club.</p> <p>She is survived by her three children: Wayne (Dawn) Raburn of Evensville, TN; Randy (Tina) Raburn of Portland, OR; and Wanda (G.C.) Oliver of Athens; grandchildren Dr. Eve Wadzinski (Dr. Jim) of Evensville; Warren (Lacey) Raburn of Evensville; Katie (Greg) Bennett of Athens; Lauren (Lucas) Posada of Brooklyn, NY; and Nick (Emmy Garrigus) of Snowmass, CO; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.</p> <p>A private Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 111 West Lake Dr, Athens, GA 30606, or the Cedar Shoals Memory Garden Fund c/o Kathy Link, Cedar Shoals High School, 1300 Cedar Shoals Dr, Athens, GA 30605.</p> <p>Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA, is in charge of arrangements. <a href="http://www.lordandstephens.com">www.lordandstephens.com</a></p>
