Mr. Frank “P. Ball” Self, age 71, of Newport, passed away  Wednesday morning, August 10, 2022 at Tennova North Medical Center in Knoxville following a short illness, with family and friends by his side.

He was a retired employee of Con Agra with forty-five years of dedicated service and a proud member of the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Naomi Gibbs Self, infant brothers, Larry and Jackie Self, sister, Dorothy Self Tucker, father and mother-in-law, Glen and Naoma Gibson and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Rosalind Gibson Self of Newport, son Joshua Scott (Heather) Self of Parrottsville, his beloved grandsons, Tristin Scott Self, Aaron Gabriel Self (Jayden Black) and Dakota Ellison (Abbie Mila) all of Newport, Andrew (Alexis) Moore of White Pine, Shawn (Chrystal) Moore of Bybee and Austin Ellison (Makayla Blevins) of Knoxville, eleven great grandchildren and nieces, Mickey(Sherrill) Yates of Del Rio and Melanie Valentine Shepherd of Lake Worth, FL.  Additional survivors include two aunts, one uncle, and several cousins and many close friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Jonestown Cemetery with Rev Gary Miller officiating.  Family and friends will meet at 12:45p.m. at the cemetery prior to the service.  The family will receive friends 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Friday evening at Brown Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Mr. Self to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
