PORTSMOUTH - Ronald Roland Ellis, 73, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2022 due to complications following a tragic accident. A resident of Virginia Beach and native of Portsmouth Virginia, he was born on June 7, 1949 to the late Jessie R. and Kathryn C. Ellis; and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 41 years of dedicated Civil Service. He cherished spending time with his family, dancing, following sports, attending NASCAR events, and talking with every golfer to play the 16th hole at Kempsville Greens Golf Course. Ron was preceded in death by parents and sisters, Linda Courtney and Patricia Wade. Left to cherish his memory are his dearest wife of 20 years, Sylvia Rust Ellis; son, Bryan Ellis; grandchildren, Quinn and Emma-Grace Ellis; stepson, Jeff Rust; beloved brother-in-law, William Wade Jr. of Standardsville, VA; and the extended Courtney, Wade, and Rust families. The family will receive friends from 4 -6 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd Chapel, which will include family members speaking at 5:00 PM in celebration of Ron’s life.
