A Farewell Celebration for Brandon Chase Mathis, 19, of Weaver, will be at 6 pm on Monday, August 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Weaver, 407 Anniston Street, Weaver, AL 36277 with Reverend Paul Edenfield officiating.  A time of fellowship will be held one hour prior to the Celebration on Monday at the church.

Brandon passed away August 9, 2022, in Opelika, surrounded by loved ones.

Brandon was a warrior from the time he was diagnosed with cancer and never complained once. He is a true definition of a warrior. Brandon's final wish was to have his brain donated to be studied in the hopes so that no one would have to suffer the same fate. He loved everyone just like God loves you.

Left to cherish his memories are his Gammaw "mom", Pat O'Leary; his grandparents, Steve and Bunny Mathis; his aunts and uncles, Jennifer "Griff" and Bill Monk, Danny and Jenifer Mathis, Shera and Brian Payne, Zach Mathis and Scott Mathis; great aunt and uncle, Buster and Mary Turner; his favorite cousin, Jenny Crick; his sweet cousins, Chad, Brandie, Kyle, Chloe, Dakota, Jackson, Hayley, Jacob, Blakely and Olson; his brother, Justin Grizzard; his sister, Izzy Mathis; his father, Steven Mathis; and his girlfriend, Haley Jones.

Special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Patrenos, Dr. Fisher at UAB Neurology who performed all four surgeries on Brandon, the UAB Neurology Group, the Big Oak Ranch Family, Southern Care-New Beacon Hospice Montgomery, nurses Bridget and Katy, Craig Bodiford and the staff of K.L. Brown Memory Chapel, and the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center.
