Mrs. Ballance was born on November 18, 1932 to Claude and Nellie B. Poland McGinty and passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Springhill, LA. Cloyce went by many titles in her lifetime-wife, mom, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend. She was all of those things and was a very caring and giving individual. She had her serious side and if you were lucky enough to know her well you would have gotten to experience her more humorous side. Everyone in our family has Cloyce stories. She loved flowers and loved to plant in her flowerbeds. Even when that was not possible any longer, she had houseplants.  She loved rooting for the LSU Tigers-win or lose. She had a tough time the end of last year but she was a strong woman and soldiered through it as she has many other things like the loss of her parents, the loss of two babies, the loss of a brother, the loss of the love of her life. She loved her family and friends so much but above everything else she loved God and that was evident in her everyday life. She would tell you that she couldn’t have made it through all that without God. She had a deep faith in the Lord and in those tough times she completely relied on Him and He helped her through. She was a strong prayer warrior and prayed many times a day for her family and friends. She even prayed for strangers if she heard of someone going through a difficult time. There are many of you out there that may not know but she prayed for you, too. She touched many lives during her 89 years on this earth but God felt it was time for her to come home. We have to accept that even though we will miss her dearly. She blessed our lives and for that we are truly thankful. It gives us comfort to know that when she left us that morning she was headed to a great reunion in Heaven and one day those of us who are still here will join her there.

Her Journey’s Just Begun

Don’t think of her as gone away-

Her journey’s just begun,

Life holds so many facets-

This earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting

From the sorrow and the tears

In a place of warmth and comfort

Where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing

that we could know today

How nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of her as living

In the hearts of those she touched…

For nothing loved is ever lost

And she was loved so much.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara "Babs" (Steve) Slack of Sarepta, LA; granddaughter, Jessica Claire (Casey) Caraway of Springhill, LA; grandson, Russell (Candace) Slack of Springhill, LA; great-granddaughter, Maggie Claire Caraway; two great-grandsons, Samuel Lane Caraway, Desmond Luke Slack; brother, Ronald Gene McGinty; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Ballance was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas S. Ballance; her parents; an infant son; and a brother, Stanley Ray Locke.
