Mary K Crowther Obituary

Mary Katherine Crowther (nee Mulhern) of Lafayette Hill, PA. Our loving “Mamie” passed away peacefully with her family around her at her home on the morning of Sunday August 7, 2022. Mary was 71 years old. Wife of N. David Crowther, Mother of Brendon (Leslie), Bryan (Eileen), and Bridget Glanzmann (Mark), sister of Eileen Tyler (Luke), Thomas Mulhern (Connie), and Bernie Mulhern (Dorothy). She will be fondly remembered by her ten grandchildren who she loved very much: Morgan, Samantha, Cece, Jaiden, Mark Jr., Deirdre, Shannon, Tessa, Grace & Shawn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Mulhern, and Helen T. Mulhern (nee Lafferty).

Mary wore several hats throughout her life. After attending Saint Philip Neri School, Archbishop Kennedy High School, and Villanova University, Mary served as a compassionate Nurse in many settings including Moss Rehabilitation Hospital, Homemakers of the Metropolitan area, and Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, where she worked until she retired in 2016. Perhaps it is most fitting that Mary spent so much time caring for others in the final stages of their lives, and was equally cared for by the kind, compassionate Nurses from Penn Hospice at the end of her life.

Mary was well known for her love of music, storytelling, art, nature, dolphins, red pandas, Philadelphia sports (Phillies especially), Villanova Wildcats, and everything Irish. She loved being creative and used her talent to express her love to others. Whether it was a blanket she would crochet, a painting she would make, a piece of jewelry to wear, or a slideshow to celebrate a momentous occasion, if it was able to be handmade, she would make it the most beautiful gift. Mary had an ability to make sure everyone around her appreciated the little moments in life, for they would turn out to be the memories we cherished later. Her greatest pride was watching her family and friends gather in celebration. Her joy was truly found in everyone else’s happiness.

Mary enjoyed many vacations with family & friends over the years to Ocean City, New Jersey, Clearwater, Florida, and Ireland. Her most recent trip to Ireland was such a special one. It left lasting memories for her to cherish with her daughter and granddaughter. Her love of history and heritage instilled a sense of pride in her family members and a deep appreciation for where they come from. As a nod to her Irish roots, Mary and her husband, Dave recently had a Hawthorne tree planted in their front yard. Hawthorne trees are treated with great respect and care, as they are believed to have Fairies living under them as guardians.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 20, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip Neri Church, Lafayette Hill, PA. Visitation from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to:
