Dorothy R. McKinnies, residing in Sebring, Florida, formerly of Walkerton, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospice Hospital in Sebring, surrounded by her family who so lovingly cared for her. She was 93 years old.

She was born May 10, 1929 in Marion, IL, a daughter of the late Samuel & Delphia (Smith) Davis, and lived in the St. Joseph County area since 1953, coming from Illinois.

On June 4, 1949 in Murfreesboro, IL she was united in marriage to the love of her life, William H. McKinnies. Together, they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his passing on June 2, 2012. She is survived by her three daughters, Janet (Daniel) Taylor of Sebring, FL; Karen (Christopher) Brewer of Cleveland, TX; and Dottie (Carl) Snyder of North Liberty, IN; and two sons, William H. (Jessie) McKinnies, Jr., of Reno, NV; and Philip (Laquita) McKinnies of Channelview, TX. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-five greatgrandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Hazel Odum, and two brothers, Loren & Glenn Davis.

Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and sister. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Dorothy and William enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. While living in Walkerton, Dorothy attended Ironwood United Pentecostal Church in South Bend, and House of Prayer United Pentecostal Church in Plymouth.

Family and friends may gather on Friday, Aug. 19 from 4:00 — 8:00 p.m. at House of Prayer United Pentecostal Church, 12450 Plymouth-Goshen Trail, Plymouth, IN, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church with Rev. Steve Binion officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Mrs. McKinnies may be offered to House of Prayer United Pentecostal Church, Plymouth. Online condolences to the family may be sent to The Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
